DISASTER RESPONSE

Disaster Response

India ranks among the world’s most vulnerable nations to natural disasters. The country is constantly at risk from natural disasters including floods, earthquakes, cyclones, and droughts because of its unique geographic location and climate.

According to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), millions of people in India are impacted by one major disaster on average each year. According to a World Bank assessment, natural disasters are predicted to cost the Indian economy $100 billion a year.

Numerous lives, pieces of property, and infrastructure are destroyed by these disasters. For the safety and well-being of the impacted communities as well as to reduce this impact, effective disaster response is essential.

Rapid Relief and Rehabilitation

Provide immediate support to communities affected by natural disasters, ensuring they have the resources needed to recover and rebuild sustainably.

Resilient Infrastructure

Promote the construction of disaster-resilient infrastructure that can withstand environmental shocks and stresses.

What we Do ?

JCT is dedicated to serve communities devastated by natural disasters prompt, effective disaster relief and rehabilitation. In line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) and 13 (Climate Action), we concentrate on two important areas

Two main areas are our focus:

Developing Expertise and Resources

JCT focuses on assembling a group of skilled volunteers and obtaining supplies required for efficient disaster relief. To ensure prompt response during emergencies, this entails gathering necessary supplies in storage, forming alliances with other organisations, and creating communication plans.

Developing Local Communities’ Capabilities

Empowered communities, in our opinion, are better equipped to handle emergencies. JCT offers training courses to give locals the fundamental knowledge and abilities needed to prepare for disasters, such as first aid, emergency evacuation, and search and rescue.
